Anderson Secures New Records in Men's Basketball Victory Over Colby-Sawyer

BANGOR, ME- The game against the Colby Sawyer Chargers began with a jump shot by Senior Raheem Anderson early on.

With much success this season, Anderson was guarded heavily by Colby-Sawyer. This strategy was not very effective in the first half, with Anderson making his 200th career 3-pointer at 12:19. Anderson is only the 4th player in program history to pass this benchmark.

The teams were neck and neck, trading points to make the score 28-26 at 9:25. Junior Mitch Worcester rose to be a major factor in this half, with several 3-point shots made.

Senior Eli Itkin also increased Husson's lead with a 3-point shot at 5:41, making the score 40-34. Freshman Justin Smith and Sophomore Justin Martin also made 3-point shots in the first half.

With two minutes left in the first half, 50% of Husson's points have been from 3-point shots. Six players in the first half made their 3-point shots including Freshman Jake Black, Anderson, Worcester, Itkin, Smith, and Martin.

In the second half, Anderson continued to dominate the court, bringing the lead to 59-47 with a layup at 16:46.

Junior Mitch Worcester assisted Anderson with another 3-point shot at 12:26, the 13th 3-pointer made by the Eagles this game.

Senior Zach Curran made a layup that brought the lead to 82-72 with less than eight minutes left in the game.

Trading points back and forth, Husson's lead was cut to a mere six points with 40 seconds left in the game. Two free throw shots by Anderson secured the lead by 8 points with 22 seconds left in the game, and tied his personal best scoring record.

The final score against Colby-Sawyer is 98-90 Husson victory.

With the points scored in this game, Anderson is Husson's all-time NCAA Career Leader, as well as the player to score the most points under coach Warren Caruso and 7th in all-time career points for Husson.

The Husson Men's Basketball team will challenge Bowdoin in an away game on Tuesday January 30 at 7 p.m. EST.
