Box Score BANGOR, Maine – Husson University suffered their first conference loss to Green Mountain College, 92-88 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday Afternoon inside Newman Gymnasium.
Husson (12-3, 9-1 NAC) receives their first loss at home of the season, while Green Mountain (12-4, 8-2 NAC) comes away 2-0 on the weekend in conference play.
Green Mountain jumped out to an early 21-7 lead with three shots behind the arch by Thomas Brown in the first six minutes of play. Husson went on a massive 28-4 run to put them ahead 35-27 with 7:39 remaining in the half. Brown had 19 points in the first half alone to bring Green Mountain within one, 44-43 at the intermission.
A Javier Lugris free throw at 14:31 in the second half gave Green Mountain a one point lead. Husson and Green Mountain battled back and forth for the next 14 minutes however, Husson could not cut into the lead as Green Mountain pulled away in the closing moments for the four point victory.
Trevon Butler finished with a game high of 26 and grabbed eight rebounds for Husson. Raheem Anderson finished with 22 points, while Justin Martin had the team's only double-double coming off the bench with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Thomas Brown led Green Mountain with 25 points and four rebounds. Cameron Anderson scored a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Mychael Parker notched down 15 points.
Husson returns to action on Tuesday, January 26 at 7:00 p.m. inside Newman Gym against non-conference opponent Colby. While Green Mountain travels to Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off.
