Box Score Bangor, ME – The Husson University men's basketball team fell to
North Atlantic Conference opponent Colby-Sawyer on Saturday afternoon in Newman Gymnasium by the score of 65-46. The Eagles drop to 15-5 overall and 11-3 in league play while the Chargers improve to 14-5 and 12-3 in league play.
Colby-Sawyer opened the game on a 17-to-9 run in the first eight minutes, and was ahead 34-27 with 1:20 left in the first stanza, but back-to-back buckets by Trevon Butler (Waterbury, CT) and Jacob Moore (Hampden, ME) brought the Eagles to within 34-31 at halftime.
Husson shot 55% (11-22) from the field in the first half while the Chargers shot 41.9% (13-31). Butler led the Husson attack with 10 points while Moore added nine. Peter Donato led the Chargers with 12 points.
Colby-Sawyer started the second with back-to-back scores, but Husson answered with three-pointers by
David Diaz (Miami, FL) and
Raheem Anderson (Miramar, FL), to close the gap to 38-37 with 17:50 left.
However, the Chargers answered with a 17-to-2 run in the next 10 minutes to take a 55-39 lead and push the game out of reach of the Eagles.
Butler finished with a team-high 12 points to lead Husson. Donato led Colby-Sawyer with 17 points.
Husson shot 36.4 percent (16-44) for the game while Colby-Sawyer shot 41.4 percent (24-58). The Chargers won the rebounding battle 40-26.
