Box Score BANGOR, Maine – Raheem Anderson scored a game-high 35 points and Trevon Butler record his 12th career double-double to lead the Eagles to a 90-86 victory over Colby-Sawyer in overtime in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Friday night in Newman Gym.
Husson (4-2, 3-0 NAC) wins its third-straight NAC game, while Colby-Sawyer (5-3, 1-2 NAC) drops its second conference game this season and falls to 6-7 in the series.
The Chargers took an 81-78 lead with eight seconds left in regulation, but a Anderson three-pointer with 1.9 seconds left wound up sending the game into the extra session.
After the two teams were tied at 81 at the end of regulation, a Tyler Norris three-pointer put the Eagles up early to open the extra session but a 5-0 run by the Chargers gave them an 86-84 lead with 1:32 left. 28 seconds later the Eagles responded with a jump shot by Anderson tying the game at 86-86 and a layup by Eli Itkin from a nice pass from Butler with 25 seconds left in the game put Husson up for good. Two free throws by Anderson in the closing seconds steal the 90-86 victory for Husson.
The Eagles took a 42-33 lead into the intermission and came out to start the second half on a 18-11 run before the Chargers went on a 19-2 run to regain the lead for the first time in the game since 13:20 left in the first half. Husson and Colby-Sawyer couldn't get more than a five-point lead the rest of way and the game remind tight down the stretch.
Anderson added seven rebounds, three assist and three steals, while Butler finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds, four assist, and one block. Norris contributed 18 points and Zach Curran added 12 to the Husson offense.
Wol Majong scored a team-high 21 points for the Chargers, while the reigning NAC Player of the Year, Peter Donato record his fourth double-double on the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Taylor Grande and Jake Maynard each chipped in with 11 points and Milani Hicks scored 19 points off the bench for Colby-Sawyer.
The Eagles will return the court tomorrow afternoon when they host New England College at 3:00 p.m. and the Chargers will trek down to Castine tomorrow to face Maine Maritime for a 3:00 p.m. game.
