Box Score NEW LONDON, NH – Raheem Anderson (Miramar, FL) scored a team-high 21 points and Trevon Butler (Waterbury, CT) added 20 as the Husson University men's basketball team defeated Colby-Sawyer 82-77 on Friday evening at Coffin Field House. Husson improves to 11-2 and 7-0 in NAC play while Colby-Sawyer falls to 8-4 and 6-1 in league play.
The Eagles fell behind 44-42 at half, but Aaron Willis (New York, NY) capped a 14-to-5 run to open the second half with a three-pointer as the Eagles took a 56-49 lead with 14 minuets remaining.
The Chargers went on a run of their own, scoring 13 out of the next 19 points to get within 63-62 with nine minutes left, but Anderson answered with a three-pointer to take break the run.
Colby-Sawyer responded and took a 70-68 lead with 5:37 remaining, but the Eagles scored the next 11 points capped by a Butler bucket to take a 79-70 lead with 2:24 to go in the contest. Colby-Sawyer pulled within four on two occasions down the stretch, but the Eagles held on for the win over the only other previously-undefeated team in NAC play.
Butler added eight rebounds and three assists to go with his 20 points. Willis finished with 10 points and four assists while Eli Itkin (Pawtucket, RI) added 12 points and four steals. Jacob Moore (Hampden, ME) scored seven points to go with his game-high 10 rebounds for Husson which shot 52.5 percent while holding Colby-Sawyer to 41.9 percent.
Colby-Sawyer was led by Peter Donato with 21 points.
The Eagles continue play tomorrow at New England College with a 3 p.m. game.
