GORHAM, ME - Taylor Shaw (Plymouth, ME) scored two goals to lead the Husson University field hockey team to a 4-1 season-opening win over Manhattanville in the Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Lauren Russell (Saco, ME) crossed the ball across the goalmouth to Shaw who beat the goalie and gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead just under 10 minutes into the contest.

Taylor Lovley (Newport, ME) gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead when she knocked in a rebound 25 minutes into the first half.

Shaw would make it 3-0 Husson just before halftime when she knocked the ball in the cage during a scrum in front of the net.

Libby Kain (Dexter, ME) sealed the game for the Eagles just after halftime with her first goal of the season.

"It is a great start to the season," said Husson head coach Madeline Hoeppner. "The girls are really starting to come together and flow as a team. Everyone contributed to the win today."

Abby Greenleaf (Newfield, ME) and Kaitlin Dolloff (Richmond, RI) combined for 10 saves in net for the Eagles.

Bregje Smits scored to lead Manhattanville.
