Box Score Bangor, ME – Husson men's basketball improves to 16-2 overall and 10-1 in the North Atlantic Conference with their 95-32 win over Green Mountain College Saturday afternoon at Newman Gymnasium.
Husson jumped out to an early 20-8 lead over Green Mountain. The Husson Eagles were propelled by hot shooting from Aaron Willis (New York, NY) early in the game to help stretch their lead out of Green Mountain's reach.
The Husson Eagles came off a big first half run and held Green Mountain to just 12 points in the second half.
Phil Leighton (Naples, ME) grabbed a game high 20 points on the afternoon, shooting 5-7 from beyond the 3-point arc. Matching his teammate's production behind the arc Willis, also 5-7 from 3-point land, finished the evening with 17 points, and 3 assists.
Green Mountain was led by Billy Brink who scored all 8 of his points in the final 20 minutes of play, with 5 rebounds, and Robert Holloway who grabbed 7 points, and 3 rebounds.
"We got back on track this weekend and played some good solid basketball. Good to have everyone get involved today, in a good team effort," said Head Coach Warren Caruso.
Husson will head to Maine Maritime Academy on Tuesday, February 4th to face the Mariners at 7:00 PM.
