Box Score Poultney, VT – Husson men's basketball secured the season sweep against Green Mountain College with a 78-66 win Friday night win on the road.
In a back and forth game that went into half at a 30-30 deadlock, Husson was able to slowly pull away in the 2nd half to clinch a conference win.
Eric Modica (Kittery, ME) scored a game high 23 points for Husson, with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Marc Zaharchuk (Richmond, ME) continued his success this week after being named North Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, with 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 1 block.
The leading scoring for GMC was Carnelius Green (Oveido, FL), who scored 18 points with 7 rebounds in 37 minutes of play. Elijah Wiggins (Pawtucket, RI) came up big off the bench for the GMC Eagles with 14 points, 6 rebounds in 26 minutes of play.
Next up, Husson will continue on their Vermont road trip of NAC play when they visit Castleton State College to play a 1:00 PM game tomorrow, Saturday, February 2. With tonight's win Husson improves to 13-6 on the season and 10-2 in conference play. GMC falls to 3-16 on the season and 2-11 in NAC play and will next host Maine Maritime Academy tomorrow, Saturday, February 2, at 1:00 PM.
