Bangor, ME- The Husson University Eagles were locked in a physical battle with the Colby-Sawyer Chargers today at the Newman Gymnasium. The first half was close with Husson holding a small lead throughout. Some key shots near the end of the first gave Husson a 36-28 lead going into the half. The second started out fast as Colby-Sawyer, just three minutes in, went on a 14-0 run to take a one point lead, 45-44. This was extended near the end due to the consistent free throws by the Chargers. The final result was a 86-72 Colby-Sawyer victory that saw a strong, intense showing from both teams.

The Eagles Marc Zaharchuk was a huge presence at both ends of the court, totaling 21 points and 12 rebounds. Daeshawn McMorrin went 4-4 from the line, contributing 16 points and 5 rebounds. Husson struggled from the free throw line going only 14 of 24 and down the stretch this caused the Husson lead to diminish. The Eagles played hard until the final buzzer continuing to press and force turnovers.

The Chargers of Colby-Sawyer were led by Will Bardaglio who put up 33 points, 8 for 13 from beyond the arc and 7 for 7 from the line. Koang Thok went 6-7 from the line putting up 16 points of his own. The Chargers were 21-25 from the line in the game which was a key component to their victory. They also had a strong showing shooting 51.7% from beyond the arc.

Husson University plays again at Newman Gymnasium on Tuesday January 10, at 5:30PM against Thomas College. The Chargers return home to face Green Mountain College on Thursday at 5:30PM.
