Bangor, ME – Husson proved themselves to be the better Eagles on the field as they beat Green Mountain College by a score of 15-9 in the first game of North Atlantic Conference play from Boucher Field. Megan Clement (Brunswick, ME) and Kim Gambon (Walpole, MA) powered Husson's offense with 5 points apiece, Clement's on a hat-trick and two assists, while Gambon had the reverse. Stephanie Eaton (Pittston, ME) had 4 goals, and Caitlyn Stauffer (Brookfield, CT) netted a trick of her own  for Husson. Kaleigh Morneau (Twin  Mountain, NH) had 10 saves for Husson and picked up the win. Johanna Douglas (Essex, CT) had 5 goals to lead the visiting Eagles, and Amanda Malkin (Highland Lakes, NJ) had a hat-trick in the loss. Green Mountain did not record an assist on any of their 9 goals. Husson held the narrow edge in shots (25-24), and ground balls (35-34), but the gap in scoring was much wider.

Both Eagles traded goals in the first 5 minutes, Rebecca Hatin (Jeffersonville, VT) opened up the scoring for the home team, before Douglas put in a free position shot to tie it up. Kim Gambon set up two more goals to give Husson a two run edge. Malkin scored to delay the Husson advance, but with the score 3-2, the home Eagles broke it open with 7 in a row, en route to a 12-3 halftime lead. Green Mountain College would fight back and score 6 in the second, but it was not enough to close the gap, and the score would eventually go final.

Husson returns to play on Monday when they travel to take on the Monks of St. Joseph's College at 7:30 pm. Green Mountain plays again tomorrow when they travel to Rivier, the game is set to begin at noon.
