Box Score (Poultney, Vt.) – Senior Josh Jones (Jefferson, Maine) recorded a double-double and reserve center Marc Zaharchuk (Richmond, Maine) poured in a team-high 19 points, helping Husson University to a comfortable 90-54 victory over Green Mountain College in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball action Friday evening.
Husson ran their league-best record to 17-5, 10-1 while Green Mountain stumbled to 0-16, 0-11.
Leading by 10 at the break, Husson opened the second half with an 18-2 run, culminating with a dunk from Jones who tallied 12 points and 10 boards in 19 minutes of action. The Eagles were unable to recover, trailing by more than 20 the rest of the way.
Husson dominated the paint, grabbing 50 rebounds to only 27 for GMC including 19 on the offensive end. Defensive pressure from Husson forced the Green Mountain into 30 turnovers, translating into 28 points for the visitors.
Senior Jay Uhrin (Winterport, Maine) added 15 points on 6-for 15 shooting while freshman Luis Medina (Hartford, Conn.) added 11 points for, dished six assists and claimed five steals for Husson who finished the night shooting 49.3 percent from the floor.
Patrick Dunn (Schenectady, N.Y.) notched a season-high 16 points for Green Mountain on 5-for-10 shooting. Malik Hale (Springfield, Vt.) was the other Eagle to notch double digit scoring with 11 points while adding four assists.
The Eagles stay on the road tomorrow, when they take on the Spartans of Castleton State College at 2:00 tomorrow afternoon.
