Box Score BANGOR, ME – Husson University fell to Wheaton College 1-0
when the Lyons scored with two minutes remaining in
regulation. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 4-4 while
Wheaton improves to 7-0-1.
Spectators at the Husson Women's soccer game today had to wait
88 minutes and 11 seconds to see the first goal, but the game was
more action-packed than the final score shows. Wheaton
College's Cassey Muse (SO, Candia, NH) scored the only goal in the
1-0 victory off of a perfect up-field pass from Kaitlyn Mawicke
(JR, Trumbull, CT) which Muse fired by Husson goalie Rozlyn
Peterson (JR, Newport, ME).
The goal came immediately after a scoring chance for the Eagles
in which midfielder Michelle Manning (SR, Hampden, ME) took a shot
what was just wide of the Lyon net after recognizing that Wheaton
goalie, Kerry Condon (Fy, Whitman, MA), was off her line.
Husson only had 1 shot on goal compared to Wheaton's 5.
The game was back-and-forth game in terms of
possession. Wheaton's Condon tallied one save on the
win while Roz Petersen recorded four saves.
Wheaton will face Tufts at home on September
22nd. Husson will play their next game at Lyndon
State on September 25th.
