Shelby Bradford (Lee, ME) tallied a game-high five goals and eight
others found their way onto the score sheet as the visiting Husson
University Eagles cruised to a 23-7 victory over Green Mountain
College in North Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action
Saturday afternoon.
Husson improves to 4-1-1 (1-0, NAC) on the season while
GMC falls to 2-4 (0-2, NAC).
Megan Clement (Brunswick, ME) and Jami Ladd (Berlin, VT)
each added four goals for the visitors while Alexandra Laniewski
(Scarborough, ME) notched three.
Celie Dagesse (St. Petersburg, FL) led the Eagles with a
pair of markers and three ground balls while Amanda Posey (Atlanta,
GA) added two goals and an assist.
Bradford opened her account with the games' first
two goals in the opening 1:50 and Clement added her first at the
26:57 mark giving the visitors an early 3-0 advantage. Posey
answered back for the Eagles before Husson poured in six straight
markers, taking a commanding 9-1 lead.
A pair of goals by Dagesse helped pull the home side back
to 12-5 at the break, but Husson notched 11 goals over the final 30
minutes, salting the game away.
Husson held a 49-17 advantage in shots and nabbed 24 draw
controls to the Eagles' eight while scooping 38 ground balls
on the afternoon.
Kelsy Allan (Jupiter, FL) made 21 saves in goal for the
Eagles while Kristen Capen (Leeds, ME) notched eight saves for
Husson.
The Eagles return to action when they head to Sage College
for a 4:00 pm non-conference matchup with the Gators.
