STANDISH, ME - The Husson University women's swim team dropped a
149-113 loss to St. Joseph's College but set new school records in
the 200 back and 400 free relay. Husson's Erin Doucette (So.,
Hampden, ME) and Amanda Mason (So., Dexter, ME) recorded first
place finishes along with the Eagles' 200 yard medley relay team.
In an effort to support breast cancer awareness, the Monks
designated the meet as their "Think Pink Swim Meet." Admission for
the fans was by donation and members of the team sold t-shirts,
with all proceeds being donated to breast cancer support groups.
Husson's 200 yard medley relay team won their second consecutive
event. The team consisted of Amanda Mason, Erin Doucette,
Megan Call (Fy., Levant, ME), Chelsea Michaud (Fy., Auburn,
ME). Doucette claimed a first placed finish in the 200 yard
backstroke, setting a new school record, and repeated as the top
swimmer of the 50 yard freestyle. Mason placed first in the
50 yard backstroke. Michaud collected second place finishes
in the 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly.
The Eagles will return to action on January 30 against Smith
College.
