BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's swimming & diving team has picked up a commitment from Ava Grace Vroman from Canajoharie Central School in New York.
Vroman competes in both USA swimming for the Canajoharie Crocodiles as well as representing as Co-Captain of the Canajoharie-Fort Plain interscholastic team. Since her high school does not offer female swimming and diving, Vroman competed as a member of the boys' team this season.
Ava's primary races are in the 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly. At the sectional high school championship, racing against a field of males, Vroman was the lone female to score in the finals of the 100 yard butterfly, recording a personal best [1:07.28].
Ava is also a member of the National Honors Society and will be pursuing Forensic Science at Husson.
"I chose Husson University because I loved the atmosphere of the campus and the school offered a Forensic Science major," said Vroman. "Coach Lauren and the swimmers were exceptionally supportive and welcoming towards me. I cannot wait to continue my swimming journey at Husson."
"Ava's competitive nature and commitment to improvement made her stand out and we cannot wait until she is a Husson Eagle in the fall," said head women's swimming & diving coach Lauren Hoffman. "Her improvement in almost every event this past year throughout her season shows she is dedicated and we cannot wait to see her compete for Husson."
