WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference announced its preseason poll results for softball on Wednesday and the Husson University softball team was chosen as the unanimous favorites.
The Eagles, who are in search of their eighth-straight NAC title, earned 81 total points and all nine first-place votes.
The team that the Eagles defeated in the finals of the NAC tournament last year, SUNY Cobleskill, finished second with 66 points, while Thomas College followed closely with 63 points.
The University of Maine at Farmington was chosen fourth with 50 points, while SUNY Delhi was just one point behind with 49.
Vermont State University Lyndon was selected sixth with 27 points, followed by Vermont State University Johnson with 25.
The University of Maine-Presque Isle and Lesley University rounded out the rankings with 24 and 20 points respectively.
Husson concludes play this week at the Spring Games with six more contests, including a ranked matchup against No. 14 Belhaven University (Miss.) today at 2:30 p.m.
