Women’s track & field competes at Maine State Indoor Championships

LEWISTON, Maine — The Husson University women's track & field team competed at the Maine State Indoor Championships on Saturday at Bates College's Merrill Gymnasium.

Husson's top finish of the day came in the long jump, where sophomore Natasha Monreal posted a 5.18-meter leap to place fifth and score four points, while freshman JaLynn Williams added two more points with a seventh-place and personal-best jump of 5.07m. Williams also contributed in the jumps with a 1.43m clearance in the high jump to place eighth and post her second personal-best mark of the day.

On the track, the Eagles earned key points in the relays. Husson's 4x200 relay of sophomore Molly Dearborn, Monreal, sophomore Niamiah Perry and Williams finished fourth in 1:54.37 to add five points, and the 4x800 relay team of freshman Lucinda Carroll, senior Grace Bedore, and freshmen Nina Huber and Brooke Martin placed sixth in 11:39.13 to score three points.

In the field events, senior Lexi Freeman delivered another scoring performance for Husson by tying for fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 2.85 meters, while senior Megan Fletcher scored in the weight throw with a seventh-place and personal-best effort of 12.93m.

In the sprints, sophomore Brianna Andrews (8.93) posted a personal-best in the 60 meters, in addition to junior Laney King (9.12) adding a new individual top-time. 

In the middle distances Huber clocked a personal-best 2:46.56 in the 800, and in the mile, Carroll (6:01.88) and Martin (6:40.46) both set personal-bests.

Perry added a 4.68m, personal-best mark in the long jump and in the weight throw by sophomore Paige Chesbro (11.62m) and junior Abigail Conlogue (10.31m), who both posted new personal-bests.

The Eagles will be back in action on Feb. 21 when they head to Waterville to take part in the Mules Tune-Up, hosted by Colby College.
