Balanced scoring pushes women’s basketball to win at Delhi in road finale

DELHI, N.Y. – The Husson University women's basketball team controlled the game from start to finish on Saturday afternoon, earning a 76–64 North Atlantic Conference road victory over SUNY Delhi at Floyd L. Maines Arena.

Husson (14-8, 13-3 NAC) set the tone early in the opening quarter, building an eight-point advantage behind strong work on the glass and balanced scoring. The Eagles shot over 40% in the first 10 minutes and used second-chance opportunities to carry a 25–17 lead after one.

The momentum continued in the second quarter as Husson tightened defensively and stretched the lead. The Eagles held SUNY Delhi (4-19, 3-13 NAC) to just 28.6% shooting in the period while shooting 60% themselves, opening up a double-digit cushion. Husson went into halftime firmly in control with a 46–27 advantage.

SUNY Delhi made a push coming out of the break, outscoring Husson in the third quarter as the Broncos found their rhythm offensively. Husson weathered the surge, leaning on rebounding and key baskets in the paint to maintain its lead heading into the final period at 58–48.

In the fourth quarter, the Eagles closed the door with timely perimeter shooting and steady execution. Husson connected on six three-pointers in the final 10 minutes, rebuilding its lead and answering every Delhi run down the stretch to secure the conference win.

Sophomore Saige Evans led Husson with 17 points and added 13 rebounds for her 12th-straight double-double, while senior Danielle Dow chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds for an additional double-double. Freshman Abby Radel and sophomore Lilly Roy each scored 10 points, with Roy also dishing out three assists. Freshman Sophia Carnes added 11 points off the bench, and sophomore Aubrey Kachnovich contributed 10 points to give the Eagles strong depth scoring.

As a team, Husson finished with 31 field goals, knocking down nine three-pointers and shooting a perfect 5-for-5 at the free-throw line. The Eagles dominated the glass with a 54–39 rebounding advantage, scored 13 second-chance points, and forced 16 turnovers that led to 15 points.

Husson returns home on Friday to host Vermont State University Lyndon at 7:30 p.m. inside Newman Gymnasium.
