Kennard claims 200 back championship in day two of LEC championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Husson University women's swimming & diving team continued its momentum Friday night at the Little East Championships, as Husson currently stands fourth overall with 170 team points after day two of the meet.

Husson opened the evening in the 200-yard freestyle relay championship final, where the Eagles placed second overall in 1:43.53 with the team of freshmen Emily Kennard and Brooklyn Henderson, sophomore Mariah Muskavitch and junior Olivia Underwood, as the quartet set a new program record in the event.

In the 500-yard freestyle, Harriman advanced to the championship final and finished sixth in 5:38.68. Sophomore Gabrielle Hoffmann competed in the consolation final and placed 15th in 5:58.84.

The Eagles had two swimmers in the 100-yard butterfly consolation final, with freshman Abbey Donato finishing ninth in 1:05.88 and sophomore Morgan Collins placing 10th in 1:07.04.

Junior Logan Williams represented Husson in the 50-yard breaststroke consolation final, finishing 10th overall in 34.26.

Kennard delivered one of the top performances of the night for the Eagles, capturing the conference title in the 200-yard backstroke championship final with a winning time of 2:12.22. In the consolation final of the same event, junior Mia Winslow placed 12th in 2:31.52, while fellow junior Mackenzie Gray finished 14th in 2:37.82.

Henderson advanced to the 50-yard freestyle championship final, finishing sixth in 25.96. Muskavitch competed in the consolation final and placed 11th in 26.69.

Underwood earned a championship final appearance in the 200-yard individual medley, placing sixth in 2:26.04.

Husson concluded the session in the 400-yard medley relay championship final, finishing seventh overall in 4:24.95.

The Eagles will look to further their momentum into day three of the championships, which kick-off at 10 a.m. on Saturday with more prelim races before finals take place at 6 p.m.
