BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's swimming & diving team turned in a strong all-around performance against the University of New England on Saturday inside Webber Pool on senior day.
Husson opened the meet with three entries in the 200-yard medley relay, led by the "A" relay of freshman Sara Harriman, junior Logan Williams, sophomore Morgan Collins and junior Olivia Underwood that posted a 2:04.81, while the "B" relay of freshmen Emily Kennard and Izzie Enos, junior Mackenzie Gray and sophomore Mariah Muskavitch finished in 2:10.01 and the "C" relay of freshmen Brooklyn Henderson, Gracie Schiller and Abbey Donato and junior Mia Winslow touched in 2:15.17.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Harriman picked up an individual win in 2:06.99, with Henderson following in 2:15.78. Husson also received efforts from senior Maggie Poulin (2:33.01) and junior Isabella Cost (2:36.22).
Husson's sprinters produced several standout swims. In the 50 backstroke, Underwood placed second in 32.08 and Winslow finished in 34.92, while Enos added a 35.57. In the 50 breaststroke, Collins recorded a time of 38.82, sophomore Gabrielle Hoffmann totaled a 40.20 and Schiller touched at 41.83.
In the 100 butterfly, Kennard won in 1:06.79, and Muskavitch followed with a 1:15.83. In the 50 freestyle, Underwood captured first in 27.94, Donato clocked 28.37, Williams went 30.17, and Gray finished in 30.29.
On the boards, senior Riley Mahoney was the lone competitor in both one-meter diving events, scoring 231.75 and 192.75.
In longer events, Poulin recorded a 6:51.02 in the 500 free. Husson also had swims from Harriman (5:40.60), Donato (6:04.55), Hoffmann (6:14.87) and Cost (7:05.22) in the event.
Husson continued to stack solid swims in the back half of the meet. In the 100 freestyle, Underwood earned the win in 1:00.49, while Collins (1:04.75), junior Julia Brown (1:09.75) and Gray (1:11.26) rounded out Husson's entries. In the 100 backstroke, Henderson swam 1:12.91, Enos finished in 1:15.52, and Poulin posted a 1:26.76. In the 100 breaststroke, Kennard recorded a 1:21.50, with Schiller (1:32.47) and Brown (1:35.80) also competing.
In the 50 butterfly, Husson received swims from Underwood (31.19), Muskavitch (32.00) and Enos (37.88). The meet closed with the 100 IM and 200 free relay, where Kennard led Husson in the IM at 1:08.27, followed by Underwood (1:11.62), Henderson (1:13.25), Williams (1:13.83), Collins (1:14.18), Hoffmann (1:14.64), Gray (1:19.11) and Winslow (1:19.89). Husson's "B" 200 free relay of Henderson, Muskavitch, Donato and Winslow earned the win in 1:51.40, while the "C" relay of Cost, Schiller, Williams and Hoffmann finished in 2:07.87 and the "A" relay of Brown, Harriman, Mahoney and Poulin touched in 2:10.00.
Prior to the start of the meet, Husson honored its senior class of Maggie Poulin and Riley Mahoney.
The Eagles now turn their attention to the Little East Championship meet, which is set to take place from Feb. 12 through Feb. 15 at the Boston Sports Institute.
