Women’s track & field finishes tied for seventh at Husky Invitational

BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's track & field team totaled 36 points on Saturday at the Husky Invitational, which was good for a seventh-place tie in the meet as a team.

In the 1,000 meters, the Eagles earned a big chunk of points with freshman Lucinda Carroll finishing as the runner-up in 3:34.34, scoring eight points, while classmate Nina Huber followed close behind in third with a time of 3:46.01 to add six more, as both athletes set new personal-bests in the event.

Husson also scored in the horizontal jumps as freshman JaLynn Williams placed fourth in the long jump, recording a mark of 5.03 meters to earn five points, in addition to recording a personal-best and a provisional qualifying mark for the Division III New England Championships.

Husson added more points in the triple jump, where sophomore Natasha Monreal took sixth with a leap of 10.14 meters, good for three points. In the pole vault, sophomore Brianna Andrews contributed another scoring performance, placing third with a clearance of 2.25 meters to bring home six points for the Eagles.

On the track, Husson's relay group delivered a strong finish, as the Eagles' distance medley relay of Carroll, Huber, freshman Brooke Martin and junior Abby Hunt placed third in 15:23.14, earning eight points.

Husson returns to action on Saturday for the State of Maine Intercollegiate Indoor Track & Field Championships at Bates College.
