LEWISTON, Maine — The Husson University women's track & field team placed sixth and posted multiple scoring finishes on Saturday at the Bates Invitational & Multi, led by freshman JaLynn Williams' sprint double and a pair of point-scoring relay performances.

Williams paced the Eagles on the track, earning a point in the 60-meter finals with an eighth-place finish (8.43). She followed that up with a big scoring run in the 200 meters, placing third (27.81) to score six points.

Husson also picked up key points in the middle-distance events. In the 800 meters, the Eagles put three athletes in the scoring positions, led by freshman Lucinda Carroll in sixth (2:38.60) for three points. Freshman Nina Huber followed in seventh (2:59.43)to score two points, while junior Abby Hunt added an eighth-place finish (3:09.50) for one point.

In the 1,000 meters, freshman Brooke Martin secured another scoring performance for Husson, finishing seventh (3:54.21) to earn two points.

The Eagles also scored in the relays, as Husson's quartet of senior Grace Bedore, Martin, Carroll, and Hunt placed fourth in the distance medley relay (15:47.27) for four points.

Husson's field event points came in the jumps. Sophomore Brianna Andrews scored in the pole vault, tying for fifth with a mark of 2.25 meters to earn 3.5 points.

In the horizontal jumps, sophomore Natasha Monreal delivered a scoring finish in the long jump, placing seventh (4.85m) for two points, and she added another scoring performance in the triple jump, finishing seventh (10.25m) for two more points.

The throws rounded out Husson's scoring, highlighted by senior Megan Fletcher in the weight throw, where she placed fifth (12.44m) to score four points.

The Eagles will be back in action on Jan. 31 when they head to Gorham to compete in the Husky Invitational.
