BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University men's soccer team turned John P. Boucher Field into a goal-fest on Sunday afternoon, rolling to an 8–3 North Atlantic Conference win over Vermont State University Johnson.
The Eagles (3-5-3, 3-0-0 NAC) wasted no time seizing control. Just 82 seconds in, freshman Tighe Hrabchak buried a cross from classmate Jorge Mora for a lightning-quick 1–0 lead. Junior Silas Montigny doubled the margin in the ninth minute, finishing a feed from freshman Chadi Hamadi.
Husson kept the pressure on, striking three more times before halftime, as sophomore Tibo Desorme powered home a 32nd-minute goal off an assist from junior Beckett Parkin, while freshman Rique Mendes converted a penalty kick at 37:23, and Parkin added his own tally on a free kick in the 41st minute to make it 5–0.
Johnson (3-2-1, 1-1-1 NAC) pulled one back just before the break through Oakley Francis, then scored twice early in the second half to cut the deficit to 5–3. But Husson regrouped, with Mora finishing a pass from freshman Iker Alonso pass in the 70th minute to steady the match. Freshman Jakob Reichle added a goal in the 84th and Mendes capped his two-goal day with an 89th-minute strike assisted by Reichle.
The Eagles dominated statistically, outshooting the Badgers 22–7 and placing 13 shots on frame. Mendes led the way with two goals, while Parkin and Mora each posted a goal and an assist.
Sophomore Jamie Barr and junior Garret Jordan split time in net for Husson and picked up the win.
Husson returns to non-conference action on Tuesday when it hosts Bates College at 7 p.m.
