Women’s soccer sets single-game program goals record in NAC victory over VTSU Lyndon

BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's soccer delivered a historic offensive showcase Saturday afternoon, rolling past Vermont State–Lyndon 18–0 in North Atlantic Conference action at Boucher Field, setting the program record for goals in a single contest during the match.

The mark of 18 goals bests the previous record of 15, which occurred in the season-opener in 2021 against Fisher College.

The Eagles (4-3-1, 1-0-1 NAC) dominated from the opening whistle, outshooting the Hornets 65–0 and holding a 16–0 edge in corner kicks. Husson led 7–0 at halftime and added 11 more goals in the second half.

Sophomore Paige Dunn set the tone with a game-high 14 shots, scoring once and adding two assists. Sophomore Hailey Tarbox recorded a second-half brace, while freshman Jillian Long notched two goals and two assists. Freshman Kennedy Freston, senior Marila Corletto and freshman Jaquie Pangburn each tallied two goals apiece.

Thirteen different Eagles found the back of the net, with freshman Gabriella Smith earning the shutout without facing a shot. Husson's pressure never relented, forcing Lyndon goalkeeper Kerisa Van Olst to make 20 saves.

The Eagles wasted little time, with Pangburn opening the scoring in the 20th minute. Husson scored five times in the final 15 minutes of the first half and continued to rotate players while adding 11 goals after intermission.

Husson returns to conference play tomorrow with Vermont State University Johnson coming to town for a 12 p.m. kick off.
