BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University men's soccer team saw 10 of its 11 goals come from first-year players on Saturday afternoon, as the Eagles cruised to an 11-0 victory over Vermont State University Lyndon at Boucher Field.
Husson (2-5-3, 2-0 NAC) used three goals in the opening 12 minutes from freshmen Cesar Soucre, Rique Mendes and Miguel Diaz Alvarez to propel itself to a dominant win.
The Eagles got tallies from senior Menuka Perera and freshman Davide Panci to close the half with a 5-0 lead, with Soucre adding two assists to his goal.
Husson padded its lead with six goals in the final 45 minutes, as Panci secured a hat trick, while Soucre, Mendes and fellow freshmen Tighe Hrabchak and Lucas Alabiso all found the scoring column once in the second frame.
The Eagles dominated from start to finish, outshooting Lyndon (1-7, 0-3 NAC) 65-1, including 28-0 in shots on goal, while also attempting 18 corner kicks in the match.
Freshman Yovanny Spilsbury and sophomore Corey Dawes each saw 45 minutes in net and neither was forced to make a save.
Husson returns to action at Boucher Field tomorrow when it hosts Vermont State University Johnson at 2:30 p.m.
