BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Husson University women's soccer team battled for 90 minutes on Wednesday, but came up short in a road loss to Bowdoin College at Pickard Field.
The Polar Bears (4-1) applied pressure early, outshooting the Eagles (3-3-1) 20–3 and breaking through in the 30th minute when Annabel Callahan finished a chance inside the box.
Husson senior goalkeeper Madison Weigler kept her side within reach, recording seven saves, including three in the first half to keep the score 1–0 at the break.
Husson's best opportunity came from senior Addi Laslie, who fired two shots on goal, forcing Bowdoin keeper Charlotte Iannone into action.
Sophomore Paige Dunn added the Eagles' third shot, a late effort that Iannone stopped in the 89th minute and Bowdoin sealed the match in the 86th minute on a goal by Sienna Masood.
The Eagles return to North Atlantic Conference play this weekend when they host Vermont State University Lyndon at 1 p.m.
