BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Husson University men's soccer earned a hard-fought 0–0 draw at the University of New England on Wednesday night at Barbara J. Hazard Field in non-conference play.
The Eagles (1-5-3) controlled long stretches of play, outshooting the Nor'easters (0-4-3) 15–8 and holding a 3–1 advantage in shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Liam Mason anchored the back line, making one save to secure the shutout of the year.
Husson's best chances came from freshman Jorge Mora, who led all players with six shots, including a low strike in the 20th minute that was stopped by UNE keeper Sean MacDonald. Fellow first-year Rique Mendes added three shots, and freshman Lorenzo Ceruti forced another save early in the second half.
The Eagles were forced to play a man down for the final 10 minutes after receiving a red card, but despite the disadvantage, the back line of Husson kept the hosts from generating dangerous opportunities.
UNE's Sean MacDonald finished with three saves to match Mason's clean sheet.
Husson returns to action this weekend looking to build on the road point when it travels for another conference matchup.
