BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University men's soccer team picked up their first win of the season, 7-0, against Lesley University in their North Atlantic Conference play opener Saturday afternoon at Boucher Field.
The offense erupted in the first half for Husson (1-5-2, 1-0 NAC) with junior Beckett Parkin assisting freshman Cesar Soucre with his first goal of the season in the fourth minute. Freshman Miguel Diaz Alvarez would tack on two quick ones in just two minutes, with freshman Rique Mendes and Soucre providing assists to bring the score to 3-0.
In the 32nd minute, freshman Jakob Reichle would join the scoring party with an assist from Diaz Alvarez, giving the Eagles a 4-0 lead at halftime.
Husson would continue their offensive dominance after the break. In the 48th minute, Mendes would capitalize on a penalty shot, with freshmen Davide Panci and Tighe Hrabchak each scoring their first goals of the season, handing the Eagles a 7-0 lead they wouldn't surrender.
Lesley (0-4, 0-1 NAC) would get its first shots of the game in the second half, but couldn't get one to find the back of the net.
Goalkeepers freshman Liam Mason and sophomore Jamie Barr would split time in net, neither having to make a save.
Husson outshot Lesley 26–2 and held a 15–0 edge in shots on goal.
Husson will return to action on Wednesday when they head to Biddeford to take on the University of New England at 6 p.m.
