NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Husson University women's soccer team picked up its first win of its 2025 campaign in emphatic fashion on Saturday afternoon, rolling past Colby-Sawyer College 5–0 at Kelsey Field behind a balanced offensive attack and a commanding defensive effort.
The Eagles (1-1) struck early and never looked back, controlling possession and outshooting the Chargers (0-1-1) 21–0 on the day. Husson's pressure paid off just ten minutes into the contest when senior Addi Laslie opened the scoring, slotting home a finish off a feed from freshman Eilidh Irons at the 10:45 mark.
Despite Husson generating 13 first-half shots, Colby-Sawyer goalkeeper Gabriela Calidonio kept her side in it with six saves in the opening 45 minutes. But the Eagles doubled their lead just before the break. Junior Rylee Speed buried a goal in the 43rd minute off an assist from sophomore Hailey Tarbox, sending Husson into halftime with a 2–0 cushion.
The Eagles' momentum only grew in the second half. Just 13 minutes after the restart, sophomore Paige Dunn extended the lead to 3–0 with a well-placed strike in the 59th minute. Husson's attack didn't slow, with Laslie striking again in the 84th minute—her second goal of the match—set up by senior Devon St. Louis.
Less than two minutes later, Husson put the finishing touch on the rout when Irons capped off a standout performance with a goal of her own, assisted by Laslie, to make it 5–0.
Defensively, the Eagles were rock solid, not allowing a single shot attempt from Colby-Sawyer across the full 90 minutes. Freshman goalkeeper Gabriella Smith earned the shutout in her first start of the season without needing to make a save, thanks to the cohesive effort of Husson's back line.
Laslie led the attack with two goals and an assist, while Irons contributed a goal and an assist of her own. Dunn and Speed added their first tallies of the year as Husson showed off its depth with four different goal scorers.
Husson will look to carry this momentum into its home opener when the Eagles host Bates College on Wednesday at Boucher Field at 7 p.m.
