BEVERLY, Mass. – The Husson University men's soccer team was defeated in its first game of the 2025 season, as Endicott College bested Husson 3-0 on Friday evening at Hempstead Stadium in non-conference play.
Endicott (1-0) was pressing heavily out of the gates, limiting the Eagles time of possession with physical and intense pressure in Husson's (0-1) defensive third.
The Gulls were granted a golden opportunity just over 10 minutes into the contest when a foul inside the penalty box awarded them a penalty kick and Liam Stapleton put a low shot into the back of the net to give Endicott the lead.
The best chance of the opening half for Husson came off of a long free kick from junior Alejandro Castellanos, but a shot from freshman Jakob Reichle was saved by the Gulls keeper.
The Eagles had a chance late in the half to knot the game up off of a turnover from Endicott, but freshman Riqué Mendes was unable to get a shot off, allowing the Gulls to keep control of the lead.
Endicott doubled its lead nearly seven minutes into the second half, as a ball that was ping-ponging around the box was struck into the back of the net by Tyler Walser to bring the score to 2-0.
The Gulls were able to fully put the contest out of reach in the 70th-minute when Travis Perrault became the third goal scorer of the evening for Endicott, giving it a 3-0 lead.
Husson was able to generate two shots in the final portion of the contest, but was unable to break through, as the contest ended at 3-0 in favor of the Gulls.
Endicott outshot the Eagles 15-6 for the game, including 6-1 in shots on goal, while both teams mustered seven corner kicks for the game.
Husson will look to earn its first win of the 2025 season on Sunday when it battles Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts at 3 p.m.
