COBLESKILL, N.Y. — The Husson University softball team returned to action on Thursday beating the University of Maine at Farmington 9-2 in its first game of the North Atlanitc Conference Tournament Championship hosted by SUNY Cobleskill.
Husson (25-10) struck for a run in the first inning, sophomore
Camryn King stole two bases after drawing a leadoff walk and senior
Kiara McLeod hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield for the early 1-0 edge.
The Eagles added another run in the second inning, junior
Lexi Volinsky singled to left field to score sophomore

Farmington (15-17) pulled with one run following a Husson error in the third and tied the game 2-2 on a RBI single, but senior
Bulla McCabe doubled in the bottom half of the inning to give the Eagles back the lead for good a 3-2.
Volinsky added another RBI in the fourth and King connected on a two-RBI single to push the lead to 6-2 at the end of the fourth.
Reed drove in McCabe as part of a three-run fifth inning, junior
Tayler Watterson singled in the Eagles second run and junior
Lydia Rice added an RBI single to run the deficit to 9-2.
Graduate student
Sky Johnson impressed in the circle again for Husson, tossing a complete game, five-hit performance allowing two runs and striking out eight.
The Eagles finished with eight hits, McCabe added two, while King, graduate student
Julia Gregoire, senior
Tori Exel, Volinsky, Watterson and Rice all tallied hits.
