BANGOR, Maine — D3baseball.com announced its all-region teams on Tuesday and Husson University baseball had three players who were selected.
Graduate student
Jackson Curtis earned a spot on the all-region second team at first base after he was named player of the year for the North Atlantic Conference after a stellar year at the plate and in the field. Curtis has batted .391 for the year, which was third-best in the NAC, with 59 hits, including 13 doubles, one triple and nine home runs, while driving in 49 runs. Additionally, Curtis recorded 19 walks, five stolen bases, a 1.132 OPS and a near .500 on-base percentage, while making just one fielding error in 271 chances on defense and ranking near the top of the conference in nearly every batting category.
Senior
Matt Wallingford was also selected to the all-region second team after he took home his second-consecutive pitcher of the year award in the NAC following a dominant season on the mound. Wallingford recorded a 1.90 earned-run average, which was the best in the NAC amongst qualified pitchers, in addition to a 1.05 WHIP, 50 strikeouts, just five extra-base hits allowed and a .204 batting average against in 42.2 innings pitched. The veteran right-hander earned two NAC pitcher of the week selections over the course of the regular season.Â
Graduate student
Alex Smith earned the final all-region nod for Husson with a third team selection as a relief pitcher. Smith went 4-3 on the mound in his final year with the Eagles, recording a 2.85 ERA, one complete game, two saves, a 1.12 WHIP and a .228 batting average against in 16 appearances, which allowed him to set a new program record for appearances by a pitcher in a career, in addition to a NAC all-conference second team spot.
