INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA has announced the field of 64 for the upcoming Division III Baseball Tournament and the Husson University baseball team is headed to Union, New Jersey for the regional round.
Husson captured its sixth-consecutive North Atlantic Conference Championship on Sunday with a 17-7 win over Thomas College. The Eagles are in search of their first regional title in program history following their first-ever regional championship appearance last season, which ended with a 4-3 loss to No. 1 Endicott College.
Husson will battle the hosts of No. 7 Kean University in its first game of the regionals at 11 a.m. on Friday. Kean is making its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2019 and is looking to win its first regional crown since the 2013 season after receiving an at-large bid into the tournament following a 35-8 regular season and a 17-1 mark in conference play.
SUNY Cortland and Middlebury College will compete in the other matchup of the first day of the regional at 2:30 p.m.
Middlebury is making its fourth-consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament out of the New England Small College Athletic Conference after a 27-11 regular season, including 10-2 in NESCAC play, which resulted in its second-straight NESCAC championship.
Cortland has made the NCAA tournament every year it has been held since 1993 and is on the hunt for its 17 regional title after it went 3-0 in the SUNYAC tournament to win the automatic bid. The Red Dragons went 29-11 in the regular season and 15-3 in conference games, in addition to earning three ranked victories on the year.
Action gets underway on Friday in Union, New Jersey at 11 a.m. with two games, before three games on Saturday and the championship series taking place on Sunday.
