BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University softball team celebrated Senior Day on Monday sweeping the University of Maine at Presque Isle 12-0 and 15-2 in its regular-season home finale.
Husson (22-10, 6-0 NAC) wasted little time getting on the board, scoring three runs in the first inning, senior
Julia Gregoire tripled scoring two runs before coming around to score on an UMPI (2-20, 1-5 NAC) error.
Sophomore
Camryn King connected on an RBI double in the second, followed by an RBI groundout off the bat of senior
Tatyanna Biamby that plated King for a 5-0 Eagles advantage.
Gregoire added her third RBI of the game for a 6-0 edge and senior
Tori Exel drove in Gregoire for the Eagles seventh run. The Eagles managed to put one more run across the plate in the second to run the deficit to 8-0 and ran the score to 12-0 with four runs in the third.
King added the rare inside-the-park homerun to open the third-inning scoring with three runs, and Gregoire tallied her fourth RBI of the game on a triple to center field.
Senior
Sky Johnson who got the game-one start in the circle for Husson, dazzled over five innings, allowing only two hits and striking out nine to pick up her 11th win on the year.
King, Exel and Rice each finished with two hits apiece, while Gregoire finished 3-3 with four RBIs. Additionally, Biamby, McCabe, senior

In the second game of Monday's doubleheader, UMPI took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Eagles plated four runs in the bottom half of the inning to open up a 4-1 edge. McCabe singled in Husson's first run and Gregoire added the Eagles second inside-the-park homerun, a three-run round tripper.
In the second inning, Husson plated seven runs, scoring the first on an UMPI error for a 5-1 edge and the sixth run when McCabe singled to third base.
Volinsky stole home for Husson's seventh run, followed by and RBI by McLeod, another off the bat of junior
Morgan Tainter and finally two RBIs by King to push the game to 11-1.
The Owls scored their second run of the game in the third inning, but a bases loaded walk by freshman
Allie Casavant in the third, another UMPI error and an RBI groundout by Biamby pushed the game to 15-2.
King, McCabe, Exel, McLeod and Tainter all posted two-hit games for the Eagles, while Biamby and Gregore all recorded hits.
Sophomore
Ana Lang got the start for the Eagles in game two, tossing three innings, striking out seven and allowing one hit. Sophomore Jasmin Johnson pitched a scoreless fourth inning, posting three strikeouts and not allowing a hit, while fellow sophomore
Sierra Yates pitched the final inning not allowing a hit.
The Eagles will now battle Saint Joseph's College of Maine on the road Tuesday in one of their final two doubleheaders to conclude the season with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m., before closing out the season on the road against the University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday at noon.
