WATERVILLE, Maine – The Husson University women's track & field team was chosen to finish first in the pre-championship poll for the 2025 North Atlantic Conference women's outdoor track & field championship this coming weekend, hosted by Thomas College at the Alfond Track on the campus of Colby College.
Husson, which received four first-place votes and 32 total points, is the favorite to win its fifth NAC title and first since 2023.
The Eagles feature a well-balanced roster with impact performers from all four classes. Junior
Nina Gregory returns as the defending High Jump champion (1.57m), while senior
Ava Dowling currently leads the NAC in the 1500m (5:02.46), 5000m (18:57.22) and 3000m Steeplechase (11:51.88). Juniors
Lexi Freeman and
Megan Fletcher pace the conference in the Pole Vault (2.95m) and Hammer Throw (38.15m), respectively. Freshman
Molly Dearborn leads the NAC in the 400m with a 1:02.75 mark set at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge (3/14/25).
Reigning champion Thomas College earned the remaining two first-place votes and sits just behind with 31 points in the pre-championship poll, while the University of Maine at Farmington ranks third (26 pts), followed by Vermont State University Johnson (16), Lesley University (11) and the University of Maine-Presque Isle (10).
The championship begins Friday at 3:00 PM with men's and women's pole vault and high jump events. All other events begin Saturday at 11:20 AM.
