WATERVILLE, Maine — The Husson University softball team returned to action on Monday sweeping Colby College 5-1 and 3-0 on the road in non-conference action.
Husson (11-9) benefited from a big second inning in Monday's in-state showdown scoring five runs to take a commanding 5-0 edge over Colby (10-10).
Junior
Lydia Rice singled in the Eagles first run, while sophomore
Lyndsee Reed connected on a two-RBI single to give Husson a 3-0 advantage.
Senior

McCabe finished 2-3 at the plate while, Reed, graduate student
Julia Gregoire, senior
Tori Exel, senior
Kiara McLeod and Rice all recorded hits.
In the doubleheader finale, sophomore
Ana Lang tossed a complete-game, four-hit performance, recording four strikeouts.
The Eagles took a 1-0 advantage following a sacrifice flyout from McLeod in the fourth and added two more runs in the fifth inning, the first on a bases loaded walk by junior
Morgan Tainter and the second on a Colby miscue to come away with the 3-0 decision.
Sophomore
Camryn King finished with two hits for Husson, while senior
Tatyanna Biamby, McCabe and Exel all posted hits.
The Eagles return to action on Thursday when they host Plymouth State University at 3 and 5 p.m.
