DELHI, N.Y. — The Husson University men's lacrosse team returned to action on Saturday falling to SUNY Delhi 18-5 on the road in North Atlantic Conference action.
SUNY Delhi (6-3, 1-1 NAC) jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the opening quarter of Saturday's conference battle before controlling an 11-0 lead heading into the the halftime break.
The Broncos added five more goals in the third quarter to take a commanding 16-0 lead before junior
Kiernan Field netted the first of his three four-quarter goals, the first from senior
Nathan Vibber to get Husson (7-5, 1-1 NAC) on the board.
Field added his second goal just under a minute later from senior
Sean Lyne, while sophomore
Drew Clinch scored a man-up opportunity from sophomore
Owen Giorgio for the Eagles third goal and senior
Dean Sinkler scored on a pass from Field for a 4-0 Husson run.
SUNY Delhi ended the Eagles run with its 17th goal, but Field powered home his third score for the Husson's fifth and final goal as the Broncos scored late to come away with the 18-5 decision.
Giorgio led the Eagles with six ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Field, Lyne and junior
Odin Burk all finished with three ground balls.
Additionally, Burk finished with 20 saves in cage for the Eagles, setting a new career high.
Husson will get a break before facing off against Maine Maritime Academy on the road Apr. 16 at 7 p.m.
