WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — The Husson University softball team closed out its Spring Break trip on Friday with losses to North Park University 9-8 and Roger Williams University 3-0.
Husson (6-8) led 4-0 after the first inning of Friday's battle against North Park (6-3) following an RBI ground out from senior
Bulla McCabe and an RBI double from fellow senior
Tori Exel.
Senior
Kiara McLeod connected on a two-RBI single to plate the final two runs of the inning.
Senior
Tatyanna Biamby singled in the Eagles fifth run of the game, but North Park scored three runs in the third inning to pull within 5-3, before taking the lead 9-5 with six runs in the fifth inning.
Husson battled back, scoring a run off another McCabe RBI single to pull within 9-6 in the sixth and cut the lead to 9-8 when junior
Lydia Rice doubled in two runs in the seventh, but North Park held on for the win.
Sophomore
Camryn King, McCabe, Exel and Rice each finished with two hits apiece, the Eagles out hit North Park 12-9 in the game.
In Friday's finale, both squads were held in check until the fifth inning with Roger Williams (5-5) scored its first run following an RBI single and two more runs after a two-RBI double to score the only three runs of the ball game.
Husson finished with five hits for the game and left seven runners on base.
The Eagles now turn their attention to Rhode Island College on Mar. 23 for a noon doubleheader on the road.
