FREDERICK, Md. — The Husson University men's lacrosse team fell to the Hood College Blazers 15-11 on Friday afternoon.
The Blazers (4-0) controlled the majority of the first half, scoring nine unanswered goals in the first two quarters to give Hood a comfortable lead. The Eagles (4-3) closed the half on a positive note when freshman Kiernan Field put Husson on the board.
The Eagles opened second half action with three straight goals from Field and freshman Cody Dingwell. Shortly after, Field found sophomore Jack Kaszubinski who was able to score on a shot from range.
In the final period of play, Field found the back nylon four more times, while freshman Owen Gray and sophomore Owen Giorgio also converted on their shots. However, the Eagles late push wouldn't be enough, and they would go on to drop their second straight game by four scores.
Despite the loss, Field showcased an all-time performance, scoring seven goals and dishing out four assists for a total of 11 points, just one point shy of tying the Eagles single-game points record.
Eagles team captain and goaltender junior Cohen Trnka saw his first minutes in net this season, playing the entire fourth quarter and racking up two saves and giving up no scores.
Husson managed to play a relatively clean game, committing only two penalties. The Eagles were able to draw nine penalties on the Blazers, in which they would score on two of their man-up opportunities.
The Eagles will close out their spring trip schedule on Sunday where they will face Centenary University at noon.
