BREVARD, N.C. – The Husson University men's lacrosse team won its third-straight game on its spring trip schedule 15-3 over the Brevard College Tornados Tuesday afternoon.
The Eagles (4-1) jumped on the Tornados (2-5) early in the first quarter, with freshman Drew Held, freshman Nolan Humphreys and freshman Owen Gray each scoring in the first four minutes of the game. Freshman Kiernan Field joined in on the early offensive success, scoring three goals of his own to give the Eagles a 6-1 lead as the quarter came to a close.
With four minutes left in the second period, junior Aidan Byers notched his first score of the season while the Eagles played man-down, taking advantage of a Tornados' turnover and extending Husson's lead.
In the final three minutes of the first half, senior Dean Sinkler became the Eagles sixth scorer of the game, displaying pure athleticism as he found his way around two defenders and launched a shot past the goaltender as he was falling to ground.
Following the halftime break, senior Sean Lyne and Gray helped the Eagles pick up right where they left off, each finding the back of the net in the first five minutes of the second half. Sophomore Drew Clinch registered his second goal of the season, followed by senior Nathan Vibber who finished the game with two scores.
The Eagles went on to close out the game with three fourth quarter goals from Clinch, freshman Cody Dingwell, who scored his first career goal, and freshman Casey Mills and moved to 4-1 on the season.
Freshman Kyle Plummer and freshman Jeremy Rousseau each played well in net, posting nine combined saves in their collegiate debuts.
The Eagles, now halfway through their spring trip schedule, next face Averett University in Virginia on Thursday afternoon.
