BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's basketball team extended its winning streak to six games after taking down Thomas College 69-45 Wednesday night, giving the Eagles their 10th-straight conference win.
After a close first quarter, Husson (13-10, 10-1 NAC) outscored Thomas (6-15, 6-5 NAC) 20-10 in the second and never looked back. Entering halftime with a 14 point lead. Graduate student
Makaelyn Porter went off for the Eagles in the opening half, finishing with a team-high 11 points.
Additionally, the Eagles finished the opening half shooting 45 percent from the floor and 2-3 from behind the 3-point arc.
The Eagles defense was persistent all night forcing 30 turnovers, which led Husson to outscore Thomas 25-5 off of turnovers and opened up a commanding 55-34 lead heading into the deciding quarter.
Husson's bench was a big factor as Porter and freshman
Alyssa Harris combined for 27 of the Eagles 41 points off the bench. Harris finished with 13 points and six rebounds.
Senior
Jordyn Lengle added a team high 13 rebounds and five assists, while freshman
Lilly Roy added 10 points and senior
Trinity Montigny added six rebounds in the win.
Next up for the Eagles is an away North Atlantic Conference showdown against top seeded Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday at 1 P.M.
