WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference announced its weekly awards for women's basketball on Monday and Husson University women's basketball freshman Sophia Carnes was named defensive player of the week.
Carnes created havoc for Husson on defense in a dominant 88-44 victory over the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Saturday, as she totaled six steals for the Eagles, while also adding 11 points, including three three-pointers, and five assists in the conference win.
Additionally, sophomore Saige Evans was named to the weekly honor roll after posting a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double, in addition to two steals and two blocks in the Husson win.
The Eagles return to the court on Friday when they head to Maine Maritime Academy for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
