WATERVILLE, Maine – The Husson University women's swimming & diving team turned in a strong showing at the Maine Collegiate Invite, highlighted by three new school records and multiple strong showings against some of New England's top talent.
The meet opened with a historic moment as freshmen Emily Kennard and Brooklyn Henderson, sophomore Mariah Muskavitch, and junior Olivia Underwood powered to a new Husson school record in the 200 Free Relay, posting a strong time of 1:43.14 to place 11th overall in a deep field. The group's splits gave Husson immediate momentum, and Kennard's opening leg set the tone for the rest of the session.
Kennard continued her standout weekend by breaking another school record — this time in the 200 Freestyle, where she placed 18th in 2:01.17, setting a new program benchmark for the event.
Other Eagles showed out in the 200 Free, as freshman Sara Harriman clocked a 2:06.09, Underwood secured a 2:06.56 and sophomore Gabrielle Hoffmann posted a 2:16.76, while freshman Abbey Donato shined in the 200 Fly, racing to a time of 2:33.91.
The Eagles' strongest early-session sprint performances came in the 50 Fly, where sophomore Morgan Collins placed 30th with a time of 29.39, followed by Donato in 29.51 (31st), Henderson in 29.57 (32nd), Muskavitch in 30.70 (39th), and junior Mia Winslow in 32.59 (48th).
In the 50 Breast, junior Logan Williams made a significant drop in her time, lowering to 34.09 to place 14th in the 27-person field, while in the 50 Free Muskavitch and Underwood posted identical times of 26.54 and Harrimaan recorded a time of 30.79 in the 50 Back.
Harriman delivered a historic performance in the 1650 Freestyle, where she broke the Husson school record with a time of 19:16.03, placing 15th in a highly competitive distance field. Harriman's versatile weekend continued in the 500 Freestyle, where she placed 22nd in 5:35.58.
The Eagles next moved into the 200 IM, where Underwood produced one of her best all-around collegiate swims, placing 48th in 2:31.79.
The sprint free group came alive late in the meet during the 100 Freestyle, where Hoffmann led Husson with a 1:00.50 for 49th, followed by Collins in 1:01.19 (53rd), Muskavitch in 1:01.49 (54th) and Henderson in 1:01.98 (56th).
The meet concluded with a strong showing in the 400 Free Relay, as the Husson A-team of Kennard, Henderson, Muskavitch, and Underwood came within half a second of breaking the school record, touching in 3:59.42 to place 12th overall.
On the diving board, senior Riley Mahoney placed 10th in the one-meter diving with a score of 157.65, while also earning a ninth-place finish in the three-meter dive with a score of 149.15.
The Eagles return to action in January when they host Gordon College on Jan. 17 at 1 p.m.
