BANGOR, Maine — The Husson women's swimming & diving team turned in an impressive performance on Saturday at Webber Pool, collecting a victory over Maine Maritime Academy in a double dual meet against MMA and Keene State, while senior Riley Mahoney broke the program record in the one-meter, six-dive.
Freshman Emily Kennard continued her early-season surge, opening the meet by anchoring Husson's winning 200 Medley Relay squad (1:59.92). She followed that performance with a win in the 100 backstroke (1:03.25) and another first-place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:18.43). Kennard later added a victory in the 200 IM (2:25.99), giving her team a key set of top-end points.
In the long-distance events, the Eagles placed two swimmers in the top six of the 1000 freestyle. Freshman Sara Harriman delivered a second-place finish with a time of 11:55.38, while junior Mia Winslow placed sixth in 12:57.52. Harriman also claimed a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:48.40), continuing her strong day in the distance lanes.
Freshman Abbey Donato earned a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:12.49) and later grabbed third in the 100 butterfly (1:09.91), contributing to Husson's point total in multiple events.
Junior Olivia Underwood placed second in the 200 freestyle (2:11.83) and added a top-five finish in the 100 free.
Freshman Brooklyn Henderson delivered a breakout meet, swimming to a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle (26.75) and a fourth-place finish in the 100 free (1:01.83).
Junior Logan Williams claimed a victory in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.35) and later finished third in the 200 breaststroke (2:57.79).
Freshman Izzie Enos added a sixth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke and sixth in the 200 breaststroke, while sophomore Mariah Muskavitch placed fifth in the 100 back and swam a strong split in the 400 free relay.
On the diving boards, Mahoney continued her standout season with back-to-back first-place finishes in both 1-meter events, scoring 225.05 and 130.00 to sweep the discipline and add valuable points for the Eagles, shattering her own program mark of 219.30 in the one-meter, six-dive event.
Husson's A-relay of Henderson, Donato, Harriman, and Underwood secured a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (4:03.03), highlighting team depth and closing out the meet on a strong note.
The Eagles return to the pool on Saturday when they head to Clark University for a dual meet.
