Bedore, women’s cross country take second at NAC championship

BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University women's cross country team turned in a strong performance on Saturday afternoon, earning a runner-up finish at the North Atlantic Conference Championship held at Saxl Park in Bangor. 

The Eagles posted a team score of 37 points, placing second behind the University of Maine at Farmington's 24.

Senior Grace Bedore continued her standout season with a second-place overall finish, covering the 6K course in 24:20.52 — less than a minute behind race winner Lina Martinez Nocito of Farmington, who crossed in 23:28.82.

Behind Bedore, Husson showed strong depth across its scoring lineup. Freshman Lucinda Carroll placed ninth with a time of 26:59.05, while freshman Nina Huber was close behind in 11th at 27:38.27. Sophomore Molly Dearborn added a 13th-place effort in 28:05.15, and junior Abby Hunt sealed the Eagles' scoring in 20th with a time of 29:56.41.

Freshman Brooke Martin finished 21st in 30:14.80 and senior Lexi Freeman took 25th in 31:45.68 to round out the Husson contingent, helping the team secure its second-place showing.

Farmington claimed the team title with 24 points, followed by Husson with 37, Thomas College with 67, and the University of Maine–Presque Isle with 92.

Husson will now turn its attention to the NCAA Division III East Regional Championship, which will take place on Nov. 15 at the Hopkinton Fair Grounds in Hopkinton, N.H.
