BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University men's cross country team put forth a competitive effort at the North Atlantic Conference Championship on Saturday afternoon at Saxl Park, placing fifth overall.
The Eagles were led by freshman Jake Violette, who clocked a time of 32:19.29 to finish 21st overall in the 8K race. Junior Micah Bryan followed close behind in 23rd place with a time of 32:47.28.
Rounding out Husson's scoring five were junior Thomas Hinton, who crossed in 32nd at 37:30.50, freshman Oden Schlager in 34th with a 38:50.86, and senior Jaden Grazulis, who finished 40th in 41:38.06. Senior Christian Zapata also competed for the Eagles, coming in 41st with a time of 42:27.34.
Maine Maritime Academy's William Spaulding took the overall individual crown in 27:42.80, while the University of Maine at Farmington finished second with 35 points to win the team title. Thomas College placed second with 40, Maine Maritime took third with 58 and Lesley University fourth with 136, edging Husson's fifth-place finish.
The Eagles will next compete in the NCAA Division III East Regional Championship, which will happen on Nov. 15 at the Hopkinton Fair Grounds in Hopkinton, New Hampshire.
