BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University women's volleyball team dropped a non-conference matchup to Bates College, 3–0, on Tuesday night inside Newman Gymnasium.
The Eagles (3–12, 2–0 NAC) struggled to find early rhythm against a sharp Bates squad that hit .368 as a team and recorded 11 service aces. After falling behind in the first two sets, Husson showed much more composure in the third, battling point-for-point down the stretch before ultimately falling 25–19.
Sophomore Mikayla Gray led Husson with four kills and five service aces, while adding two digs. Junior Janna Preskorn dished out seven assists and collected five digs, while sophomore Amanda Mei Morse posted six digs and added a service ace. Sophomore Kimberly Daniels chipped in two kills and a dig, and sophomore Jonna Travis added two kills with a .125 hitting percentage.
Defensively, the Eagles tallied 24 digs as a team, led by Morse and Preskorn.
Bates (7–6, 1–4 NESCAC) was paced by Ami Evans with six kills and four aces, and Lauren Croom handed out 13 assists. The Bobcats finished with 39 kills to Husson's 12.
Husson returns to North Atlantic Conference play this weekend when its hosts SUNY Cobleskill at 1 p.m.
