BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University women's soccer team battled through a scoreless first half but ultimately fell to Colby College, 3–0, in non-conference action Tuesday evening at John P. Boucher Field.
After 77 minutes of shutout soccer, the Eagles' (6-4-1) defensive wall finally cracked under sustained pressure from the Mules. Colby (6-1-3) broke the deadlock when Samantha DeWitt converted off a pass from Claire Walsh to make it 1–0. The visitors added insurance goals from Abigail Jarvi in the 86th minute and Amanda Schneider just over two minutes later to seal the result.
Husson senior goalkeeper Madison Weigler turned in another strong performance, recording seven saves while facing 22 Colby shots. The veteran goalie anchored a back line that absorbed heavy pressure for much of the evening, helping keep the game even deep into the second half.
Offensively, sophomore Paige Dunn tallied the Eagles' lone shot on goal midway through the first half, testing Colby keeper Talia Thompson, who finished with one save in the shutout.
Husson's defense cleared multiple chances and defended 11 Colby corner kicks to keep the game within reach.
The Eagles return to conference action on Saturday when they travel to New York to face SUNY Cobleskill at 1 p.m.
