BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University men's soccer team returned to non-conference play on Sunday and was defeated by a score of 6-0 by No. 4 Williams College at Boucher Field.
After getting off to a slow start, Husson (4-7-3) managed to find its footing on offense and generated some quality chances with freshman Cesar Soucre getting a shot saved by the Williams (7-0-3) keeper, while fellow freshmen Chadi Hamadi and Lucas Alabiso both had chances blocked by the Ephs defense.
Williams broke the scoreless deadlock in the 19th minute after converting on a miscue from Husson's backline to go up 1-0.
The Ephs tallied three more first-half goals to take a commanding lead into halftime, as a header off of a corner kick, another mistake from the backline of the Eagles and a brilliant through ball in the middle of the field propelled Williams to a hot start.
Williams carried its momentum into the final 45 minutes by tallying two insurance goals to put the finishing touches on a dominant win.
The Ephs outshot Husson 24-8 for the game, including 14-4 in shots on target, while also holding a 10-3 edge in corner kicks.
Freshman Liam Mason was in net for Husson and made eight saves in the match.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday when they start their trip to New York with a matchup against SUNY Cobleskill in North Atlantic Conference play at 3:30 p.m.
