BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's soccer team's strong second half propelled them to a 6-0 conference victory over the University of Maine at Presque Isle at Boucher Field on senior day.
In the first half, Husson (6-3-1, NAC 3-0-1) would have complete control of possession over UMPI (1-9-1, NAC 1-4). Freshman Jaquie Pangburn and senior Devon St. Louis would each have 3 shots on goal in the half, but all would be saved by goalkeeper Michaela Carney.
It appeared that the score would stay at 0-0 heading to the break, but with just three seconds left in the 44th minute, senior Addi Laslie would get a shot right over Carney's head, scoring her seventh goal of the season, giving Husson a last-second 1-0 lead at halftime.
The Eagles' offense would erupt in the second half, scoring four goals in quick succession. St. Louis would start it off, sneaking a shot into the net, her fourth goal of the season.
St. Louis would contribute to the next goal as well, providing the assist to sophomore Hailey Tarbox.
Sophomore Ella Hosford and Pangburn would join in on the scoring parade, each scoring goals of their own.
Junior Olivia Charles would close out the scoring for the Eagles, recording her first goal of the season.
Husson held an overwhelming 39-0 lead in shots, with a 20-0 advantage in shots on goal.
Senior Madison Weigler would play all 90 minutes in goal, not having to make a save and earning a shutout.
Prior to the start of the contest, Husson honored its senior class of Marila Corletto, Caley Nault, Weigler, Cassy Schilter, Laura Martel, Kendra Donahue, Madison Higgins, Laslie and St. Louis.
